Cantante:  Hands Like Houses
Descrizione:

From lead singer Trenton Woodley:

As a kid growing up in Canberra, the closest swimming hole was a relatively shallow river called the Murrumbidgee. I used to play in the rocky rapids, building dams with river stones to try and stop the flow of the river. There were never enough stones or hours in the day but that never dissuaded us from trying – the play was in the attempt and the building itself. There’s something I always loved about that innocence, of going up against something as powerful as the water with total dedication to a cause, but feeling no disappointment or disillusionment in never reaching that goal. Testi:

Verse 1
Pilling stones to guide the sea
To say we stopped the tide
But we, we never did, did we?
We never did, did we?

Pre-Chorus
We built as only children know to build
We made a way where there’s a will
No slowing down or standing still
Innocent and reckless

Chorus
How did we get so old and never notice?
How did we gain the world and lose the moment?
Rise and fall; the tide surrounds us
And drowns us all

Verse 2
Finding the cracks in our intent
We can't stop the water rushing in
We can't stop the walls collapsing in
From rocks into reign and to ruin again

Pre-Chorus
We built as only children know to build
We made a way where there’s a will
Innocent and reckless

Chorus
How did we get so old and never notice?
How did we gain the world and lose the moment?
Rise and fall; the tide surrounds us
And drowns us all

Bridge
Watching the years, all washed away
Scattered stones all that remains
A kingdom swallowed by the sea
(Innocent and reckless)
(Innocent and reckless)

Chorus
How did we get so old and never notice?
How did we gain the world and lose the moment?
Rise and fall; the tide surrounds us
And drowns us all

How did we get so old and never notice?
How did we gain the world and lose the moment?
Rise and fall; the tide surrounds us
And drowns us all

Dissonants
Album:

Dissonants

Descrizione:

The title “Dissosants” is a homophone for the word “dissonance.” By using the plural form of dissonant, it is describing multiple states of reality that conflict with one another. Both the themes of the album as well as the song titles support this theory.
